I would like to share some observations that I feel are significant and may inspire some curiosity in the practices shared on this website. I have no intention of proving anything or anyone right or wrong. The intention of these observations is simply to illustrate other ways of observing that which we 'think we know'. While many observations included relate to The Tzolkin, order as symbolised by the Tzolkin orders ALL...ABSOLUTELY.
I have spent years attempting to put into words or present something in a linear fashion that we are accustomed to…although, it is not possible to reduce the infinite to a paragraph or a page of words, nor could one person achieve that. I realise that this may not make sense, although ultimately I am not intending to share information, it is the experience that counts. Or another way could be to say, ‘It is not the thing / human nor is It the meaning that is vital, it is the movement, the change, the way in which the thing / human is BEING’.... and all that IT asks of you is your Presence, a participatory relationship. open and allowing IT to inform you.
Please note the following is only possibly to perceive
on account of the 100 kin within the Tzolkin.…
as they connect the Order above ( 360 )
and the Order below ( 260 )
( see above & below )
Also note the first section below is perhaps more directed to those who have a familiarity with the Mesoamerican civilisation, although as 21/12/2012 was a date popularised globally, the observations may interest anyone, as the Tortuguero monument is the only known text to mention;
1 - the date 21/12/2012 as having an association the end of an era
and
2 - Kin 160.
The Maya followed cycles and there are cycles within cycles.
1 kin = I day
20 kin = 1 vinal = 20 days
18 vinals = 1 tun = = 360 days
20 tuns = 1 k’atun = 7200 days
20 k’atuns = 1 b’ak’tun = 144 000
20 b’ak’tuns = 1 piktun = 2 880 000 days
The current cycle of the ancient Maya Long Count Calendar began

On this day the sun rose at 10º Virgo which equates to Kin 160

I imagine this observation of the Long Count Kin, 160, at the beginning of the Piktun and also on the 21/12/12, is well known, although the SUN at 10 degrees Virgo, which equates to Kin 160, at the beginning of the entire Piktun, I am unsure about.
When the entire piktun (a complete cycle of 20 bʼakʼtuns), completes on October 13, 4772.
the same pattern will occur. Both the Long Count Kin and the Kin of the Suns degree will be the same - Kin 140.

While this list could be explored… this document is an attempt to illustrate this significance of Kin 160
in relation to the practice of following the Tzolkin….now…
Perhaps note, though, that the Long Count Kin at the end / beginning of each of the 20 b’aktuns is 40º relative to the previous and the next. Ie: there is a movement of 40º.
While this appears ‘backwards’, it is due to perception, as in from earth, or from the sun….and that is another tangent to write about another day, for now, just to note the 40º of change and its equivalent Kin 40. ( 1 Sun / Magnetic Sun)
The Long Count kin is also 20º less than the previous piktun cycle too.
The beginning is 160
The end is 140
Relative by 20º, at the beginning and end of each piktun, both
the degree the Sun rises on that day
and
the Long Count Kin on that day
are the same.

And now, the process I find challenging…. Working backwards in an attempt to illustrate in a linear fashion how to perceive the above.
Challenging, as to analyse and calculate is not how this realisation revealed itself.
With attunement to Order there is simply a knowing relative to a curiousity.
For me, in this case, curiosity was initiated by Orion.
So …a few notes on how this observation of the 160º was initiated…. And then how it revealed itself.

My interest at this time was Orion…
and the only question I ever have is ‘how can I develop my relationship with 'you'?’….
As all can be perceived as aspects of Order, as aspects of ourselves and environment….
And a way to know, a way to attune, is with S5.
Feeling informing mind, feeling to 'know'....
I could look at books or websites to learn more…maybe…, however over the 15 years of embodying this Order, I am aware there is always more, more than we 'think' we know, and that our 'knowing, the meaning we assign our observations/experiences, will be uniquely individual too. So how can I know that which is not seen, that which we are not yet aware of? (Or forgotten, as I believe this Order was once known by all humans and followed as uniquely as their cultures were distinctive)… and a way I have realised is with S5.
Read more on S5 here( BODY PRACTISE - S5 Divine Water) - although simply, S5 is like tuning the dial on a radio to a station (which you choose) and allowing it to play the music IT chooses. Awareness and participation (practise) is vital. Life is a participatory experience and S5 is a participatory practice. The Tzolkin for me is like the dictionary of the language my friend speaks, and as I love my friend so much, I desire only to know them more, I want to practise this language so I can communicate fluently… this relationship is mutual, I am not spoken to, I communicate with…
Note - while this aspect of the practice, these realisations, are mind blowingly exciting, they are like the icing on the cake of 'feeling the experience of peace'. It is these two aspects of the practice that compel me to continue to try and share the practices. We are all human and all made in this order, we are all able to attune to it and …. What that looks like, I cannot tell you, although there is no doubt our collective experience of life would be not only incredibly peaceful but incredibly exciting too.

The constellation Orion is know by some as The Warrior which suggests an association to the Warrior Function - Number 16.
Orion spans the astrological wheel between Kin 53 (Rigel) and Kin 65 ( Betelgeuse)

There are several ways to perceive the degrees of change.
None are more right than another, and each is what I can only describe as magical…

There hasn’t been anyone (yet) I can ask to proof read this website in relation to the numbers, although, I have found that anytime there is an anomaly in a list I am compiling, it is on account of a mistake of mine, and I am able to see my mistake, as Order is fixed, constant & incorruptible. Having said that, there could be typing errors on this website, maybe….? (definitely spelling & grammar…precise definitions and rules have never interested me :) , although the numbers typed on the 4 kin Tzolkin are correct, as too are the drawings of the spiral. Both I have used daily for years and cannot fault.
Order is perfect, being a mirror of IT is a practice, and I am human, like everyone else, and make mistakes.

Anticlockwise - 180 moves to 260 = degree of change = 80º

Each of the numbers of each of the 4 kin… within each kin…. can be added together to equate to a degree.
Note all numbers greater than 260 are reduced by 260 to a number less than or equal to 260

I realise that this just seems crazy to many people; that there could be 2 ‘measurements’ that are ‘right’
( might just mention there are more….always)
And I appreciate it is different as from the perspective of quantitive measurement that we are accustomed too, it doesn’t make sense. However, Order is not a measurement of something, Order is simply Order, or Order is Itself.Itself… and the degree of change is a degree of change relative to the Order Itself.
This is not a quantifiable measurement….It is a degree….
For example, the degree to which someone responds to music playing may be on account of ….
How close they are to its source, how loud the music is playing, any associations the person may already have in relation to the piece of music playing…. Etc etc
This is the ‘degree’ of change of the Tzolkin.
